Hey everyone!
My name is Jason, and I was born in Seoul, South Korea. I moved to the States when I was about, I'd say about 6 months old. I was raised here in Maryland and I graduated from Richard Montgomery High School. When I was applying for colleges, I had wanted to go to a school where it had an excellent journalism program. After being accepted to College Park, not only because it was a school that was near my home, I knew that I wanted to come to this school because I thought that I would have the best opportunity to learn what it takes to become a journalist. However, after a semester of my freshman year, I thought about my future more and decided that I wanted to switch majors and look towards the business path. I realized that journalism was simply a hobby for me. I have chosen to go into Operations Management (Business) as well as Air Force ROTC this semester.
I've done many types of writing throughout my life, including blogging (I remember when Xanga used to be popular). Throughout my school years, I have done papers for argumentative essays, literary analysis, narrative essays, research papers, and also film analysis. For the most part, I like writing, but not particularly the extensive and complex essays. However, I give my best effort in each essay I face. I may not be the best at writing, but I hope that through this class, I can learn the many techniques to write an amazing paper.
Because I usually do this at the end of most of my blogs, I'll continue to do this here as well. I'll leave a little quote for everyone that sums up my day.
"The best of times is now." - Oprah Winfrey
Hey Jason! We already went over this but, i think it is cool that we only live like 20 minutes away from each other! I think it would be really cool if you joined the Air Force ROTC.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I like the quote at the end of your blog!
Hey Jason!
ReplyDeleteThough I live right next door to you and converse with you daily, I had no idea that you moved to the states before you were a year old. Also, I admire that you are taking English not just because it is a requirement, but to improve and hone your skills as a writer.I hope to get to know you better throughout the semester!
Love,
Mark
Hi, Jason! I encourage you to keep bringing that positive attitude to class! I like that you've continued to explore your career options, and look forward to seeing the ways that you make writing work for you (as a hobby, as a student, and it will definitely be very useful in business). I've worked in Marketing before, and I can tell you writing is really important there, too. Nice touch with the quotation at the end -- keep bringing the personal touch to your work!
ReplyDeleteHey Jason!
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot about Xanga! Wow, that was such a blast from the past. It's awesome how you blog and journal even as a hobby now. I just picked up a journal again and love the escape it offers. It's crazy how mature of a choice you've already made by switching majors and all but if you're happy with it I'm sure its the right one. On the brighter side, you now get to enjoy writing again for class in Engl 101! I can't wait to read more of your blogs and hope you keep putting quotes at the bottom--I'm a big fan of that personal touch.
Doing well? What does the ROTC do? They seem to have a reputation for some major bamf'ery. Is what they say true? Keep on keeping on, bucko!
